India then hosts Australia and South Africa for a three T20I match series before heading into the T20 World Cup in October.

Middle-order has been India’s cause for concern in this series and so it has been for West Indies. Chasing 191 to win the first T20I, the hosts reached only as far as 122/8 losing the game by 68 runs. Skipper Nicholas Pooran lamented at the batting performance from his players in the first game. The trio of Pooran, Holder and Poowell failed to score big in the second T20I as well. Windies won on the back off Brandon Kings’s 68 in the chase after Obed McCoy’s six-for in the first innings.

“I can finally breathe now. It has been a tough summer for us. We lost a few close games and nearly made a mess of this as well. Obed was fantastic and all the guys just used the pitch and the conditions well. A win is a win. I believe in T20, better batsmen have to bat long” said Pooran after the second T20I win.
