Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Regional Migration Health Assessment Coordinator for MENA REGION, and in coordination with the Regional Medical Movement and Vaccination Program Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for effective Medical Movement technical assistance and other selected public health activities within the scope of Health Assessment Programs.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
· Provide support to USRAP and SIV movements out of MENA region as needed.
· Assist with reviewing and following up on non-US medical movements that are departing from MENA (EU resettlement movements, Canada movements out of Gulf countries, Tel Aviv and Gaza movements in liaison with UNHCR, movements out of Syria), providing clinical advisory and assisting country operations in implementing protocols in these areas.
· Provide support to non-IOM panel sites in managing refugees with Significant Medical Conditions (SMC), ensuring proper follow up is in place.
· Assist in reviewing SMC reports following MHA for USRAP in MENA through Mimosa reporting tools, to identify cases requiring special attention and follow up, and communicating that with the country USRAP focal points.
· Monitor the implementation of pre-departure evaluation and pre-embarkation checks for refugees and immigrants with refugee benefits traveling under IOM auspices according to the designated HAP protocols.
· Contribute to quality control of the medical records while reviewing medical cases requiring assistance during travel.
· Help in monitoring the epidemiological developments in MENA and updating the Outbreak reports.
· Monitor training activities in MENA and assist with updating MENA Training Repository with relevant training opportunities.
· Assist in creating and distributing relevant health education materials.
· Help updating regional reports on medical movements and vaccination as needed.
· Serve as the officer in charge in the absence of the regional medical movement and vaccination program coordinator.
· Perform other duty as may be assigned by the supervisors.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education & Experience
· Experience in Migration Heath Assessments;
· Demonstrated progressive experience in health programme management;
· Experience in project development, management and report writing;
· Experience in migration health emergency response is an asset; and,
· Experience in establishing partnerships with government institutions, health institutions and other partners.
· Management of complex medical cases related to movements
Fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of other IOM official language is desirable
