We had the chance to check out the grand opening of the new Razer store in Las Vegas. Doors opened at noon on September 7, 2019, and fans came out in droves to experience it. This store is more than just a retail outlet, it’s an experience. Think of it as a gamer’s hangout where you can put hands on almost anything before you buy.
I particularly enjoyed the view of the store from the DJ booth, which is half way up the stairs toward the live streaming studio. Of course, your attention goes to the huge display above the tournament stations, where you can follow the action.
There are phones, too.
Razer and mobile
With a store full of computers, laptops, headphones and other gamer related accessories, the Razer Phone 2 gets a display table of its own. There were just three phones on display, accompanied by Kraken X headphones and their wireless charging dock.
We had a lengthy chat with Razer’s team about their mobile efforts and the future of the Razer Phone. As you know, the Razer Phone 2 is still a good value for the dollar, and a fun smartphone for gaming-enthusiasts on the go, but it is getting older.
Razer made no offer of a time frame to see a Razer Phone 3, but they reaffirmed their commitment to the platform.
Gaming goes beyond any single device. Razer wants to support your game, no matter what phone you use.
What was more important to us, Razer expressed a reality that we all know: Gaming goes well beyond any single device. The concept is simple, Razer offers accessories for any PC, the Xbox and more to enhance your gaming experience. It would like to enhance your mobile gaming experience as well. We were told to stay tuned for announcements.
We look forward to some new mobile accessories from Razer. It started with fun, customize-able phone cases last week, let’s see what they bring next.
Why Las Vegas?
Choosing the location for their fourth retail location, Razer said Las Vegas was an easy choice. Las Vegas is becoming the place to be for gamers, with lots of big tournaments in the area. Not to say that Razer is just going where the action is, but that’s sort of the case.
If you get the chance to stop in, be sure to check ahead for open events, you might get to see your favorite gamer in action, you can book time with the livestream studio or join in on a tournament. Oh yes, you can shop for new gear, too.
