Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050, MX550, and MX570 graphics cards unveiled for low-cost gaming laptops – Notebookcheck.net

Science & Technology

Budget gamers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the desktop variants of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti, and both graphics cards are slated for a CES 2022 unveiling. Meanwhile, Nvidia has blindsided everyone by announcing three new low-end graphics cards for laptops, namely the GeForce RTX 2050, GeForce MX550 and GeForce MX570.

Of the three, we stumbled upon the GeForce MX550 on Geekbench not too long ago. The listing told us that it packed 2GB of VRAM and 2,048 CUDA cores. There’s no way to confirm if the graphics card in question is a GeForce MX550, as Nvidia has not revealed any information about it. There is a slight possibility that the aforementioned device is the GeForce MX570. Once again, there’s no way to find out, as Nvidia hasn’t talked anything about the graphics cards’ innards. It will be ideal if Nvidia tells us more about the GeForce MX550 and MX570 at CES 2022.

Moving on to the GeForce RTX 2050, Nvidia says that it packs 4GB of VRAM on a 64-bit bus with a total memory bandwidth of 112GB/s. It has 2,048 CUDA cores and a TDP of 30-45W. It is hard to speculate what GPU it uses, but we’re probably looking at a TU106 variant. Unlike its better-specced siblings, the GeForce RTX 3050 does not support G-Sync, and cannot directly output a video signal.

Nvidia rounds things off by stating that the GeForce RTX 2050, GeForce MX550 and GeForce MX570 will be out and about this spring. We’ll probably see them debut alongside some lower-end Alder Lake-P or Alder Lake-M processors. While the MX550 and MX570’s position in the market is quite apparent, one can’t help but wonder where exactly does the RTX 2050 fit into the equation. Then again, Nvidia had no qualms relaunching the Turing-based GeForce RTX 2060, so Nvidia probably has something planned for the RTX 2050.
