Lenovo has recently offered a glimpse of its next-gen Legion laptops for the Chinese market. Going by the updated naming scheme involved, we may already have caught sight of the line’s flagship, the Y9000P. Now, its possibly smaller sibling the Y7000P has turned up on Weibo.
Its new, schematic-inspired teaser might reinforce the impression that this Legion Yxxxx series are variations on, or successors to, the PCs known as the Legion S7/Slim 7/7 series, based on variant type and where they are sold elsewhere throughout the world.
In this case, it looks most likely that what we have here is something like a Legion 5i. It has the high-end, 180°-hinge chassis typical of such laptops; however, in this case, it appears to be thinner with edges that are flatter and more squared-off than anything seen in 2021.
However, this potential esthetic advantage may imply a potentially deal-breaking compromise: that of a potential reduction in port-count (on the machine’s sides, at least) in this generation. The Y7000P, as seen from one side, exhibits nothing but 2 USB type-C ports, 1 of which is ostensibly Thunderbolt at least.
On that note, it is also now possible that the Legion Y7000P is an Intel-powered device, and that the Y9000P is, by the same token, also going with this platform. This may debunk speculation that the laptop would be a Ryzen variant instead; however, there is now talk of corresponding R9000P and R7000P units with these specs.
