Gmail and other Google services are down for some, but fixes are on the way

If you are having issues accessing your Gmail account today, you are definitely not alone. Gmail has been down for a number of users today.

The outages were first reported on or around 11:30 a.m. Eastern time. Google’s own G Suite status update web site showed Gmail, Hangouts, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Calendar were all experiencing issues with users unable to access their services.

However, the latest status update from the site now shows that some users can now access those Google services once again. The rest of the affected users should be able to get access within the next hour. The site did state that “this time frame is an estimate and may change.”

So far, there’s no word on the reason for this extended outage of Gmail and other Google online services. With more people working and going to school from home during the current coronavirus outbreak crisis, this kind of outage is more than an inconvenience for many people that depend on Google’s cloud-based collaboration services.

Have you experienced issues with accessing Gmail and other Google services today?
