France’s Jules Kounde and Mike Maignan substituted in first half due to injury vs Austria

France’s injury woes continued against Austria as defender Jules Kounde was forced off in the first half.

Kounde, 23, went down in the 23rd minute with an apparent muscle injury and was subsequently replaced by William Saliba.

Similarly, goalkeeper Mike Maignan was substituted at half-time due to an injury. Alphonso Areola was brought on the AC Milan No 1’s place.

It will be concerning news for France manager Didier Deschamps as there have been a series of injury-related interruptions to his recent squad announcement.

On Monday, Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris withdrew from the France squad due to a thigh injury and was replaced by Nantes No 1 Alban Lafont.
