If you want to know the best gaming laptop for Modern Warfare 2, or even if playing Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (the 2022 iteration) is even worth bothering with on laptop hardware, then have a looksie on down at this page. We’ll be going over the full price spectrum of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 laptop options: from those you should consider if you want to play the game at the highest FPS, on the higher graphical settings and resolutions, to more budget-friendly options if you don’t mind playing on lower settings/at lower FPS.
You can most definitely play Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on a laptop and get some very high FPS, as long as you either don’t mind splashing out a bit more cash, or alternatively play the game on the lower settings. As with all gaming laptops, you won’t get the same level of FPS performance as you would on a desktop PC for the same budget – this is just the reality that the smaller chassis imposes – but you do get the additional advantages of portability. Further down this page we’ve listed some options for laptops that will get you solid FPS on different resolutions, suitable for different budgets.
The below recommended system requirements for Modern Warfare 2 are only predictions at this stage, as the developers have not yet come out with the official information. These specs are suitable those looking to play the game at 1080p resolution on a desktop PC, and therefore are below what you’d need to play the game on a laptop, as, generally speaking, laptop GPUs and CPUs are of lower power, even if they have the same model name. We’d also flag that recommended requirements are often more like the true minimum requirements required to actually play the game to a decent standard – official minimum requirements are usually what’s required to only just run the game. Have a look further below for some specific laptops we’d recommend for playing the game at different resolutions and price points. For more detail on the desktop requirements, read our Modern Warfare 2 system requirements page.
The good old MSI GF65 Thin has been on our list for best gaming laptop under $1,000 for some time, from the older RTX 2060 version to the newer RTX 3060 option, which is what we’d recommend for playing COD MW2 2022 (with one of the Intel Core i7 CPU options). The only caveat to our recommendation of this machine is that you need to open it up and add an extra 8GB RAM stick, as the single 8GB one it comes with simply isn’t enough. Still – a laptop worth considering.
If you want to play Modern Warfare 2 on a laptop at 1080p on the highest settings then the ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition offers unbeatable value. This all-AMD gaming laptop punches well above its weight in FPS terms compared to the other gaming laptops in its price range, and comes with a 1080p 300Hz display option that’s great for competitive gaming. Alternatively, you can go with the 165Hz 1440p option, if you’re less concerned with maximizing in-game FPS above 165. If you have your heart set on an Nvidia machine instead, then, check out some of the other options available in our best gaming laptop under $1,500 list, though you won’t find FPS performance to match this laptop for the same cost.
If you’re looking for a powerful yet (relatively) affordable gaming laptop on the market, which will give you a great Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 laptop experience, then the XMG Neo 15 (as it’s marketed in Europe) / Eluktronics MECH-15 G3 (as branded in the US) is a great bet. Whether you decide to opt for the cheaper RTX 3070 or RTX 3080 E21 version with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU or the latest RTX 3070 Ti or RTX 3080 Ti E22 version with Intel Core i7-12700H, you’ll be getting the highest TGP graphics cards comparable to any competing gaming laptop. Such is the power of the Nvidia RTX 3070 model, that it actually competes with many RTX 3080 laptops from other brands. The E21 version comes with either a 165Hz 1440p display or 240Hz 1080p screen, but the newer E22 has a 240Hz refresh rate for both resolutions.
Playing Modern Warfare 2 on a laptop at 4K on high settings, with a high enough FPS and refresh rate to be competitive, don’t come cheap. The majority of 4K laptops cap out at 60Hz refresh rate, which isn’t high enough to play an online competitive shooter to a good enough standard in our opinion. There are, however, some 120Hz 4K gaming laptops on the market, and our advice would be to go for the ASUS Zephyrus S17 with RTX 3080. This beast has the power and refresh rate to actually make gaming at such a high resolution worthwhile, though it will cost you a pretty penny.
We hope this has helped you find the best gaming laptop for Modern Warfare 2, relating to your specific budget and needs. We trust this has answered the question ‘Can you play Warzone on a laptop? Coz the answer is yeys.
