Sri Lanka has defeated Bangladesh in 17 out of 22 Test matches and has lost only 1.
On Sunday, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play the first Test of the two-match series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Sri Lanka will be making a fresh under new coach Chris Silverwood. They have also included a number of young players in the squad and a few would are likely to make their debut in this match. Sri Lanka last played a Test series against India earlier this year and suffered a whitewash.
Sri Lanka has defeated Bangladesh in 17 out of 22 Test matches and has lost only 1. However, this series might not be the same for them as they would be up against a confident Bangladesh at their home. Bangladesh won a Test match against mighty New Zealand at the start of this year and then suffered a whitewash at the hands of South Africa. Bangladeshi batters completely surrendered against the South African bowling attack. Bangladesh would be hoping for a better performance from the batting unit in both the matches of the series.

BAN vs SL, 1st Test Pitch Report:
The pitch is expected to provide a lot of support to the batters during the entire match. In the last 5 Test matches at this venue, the teams batting first have managed to score over 300 runs in the first innings. Hence, the team winning the toss might look to bat and put a decent total on the board. Bangladesh has not won a Test match here since November 2018 and Sri Lanka last won a Test match at this venue in January 2009.

Top Picks for BAN vs SL Dream11 Match:
Top Picks – Batters
Dimuth Karunaratne is the captain of the Sri Lankan team and has scored runs consistently in the last few years. In the last Test against India, Karunaratne made a century and was the only Sri Lankan player to hit a century on that tour. He also finished as the leading run-scorer for Sri Lanka in the series.
Tamim Iqbal returned to Test cricket after a gap of over a year against South Africa in the second Test. However, he couldn’t do much for the team and could score a total of 60 runs. Tamim last scored a century in Test cricket back in February 2019. Since then, he has made 5 half-centuries but has failed to convert the same.
Top Picks – All-Rounders
Shakib Al Hasan last played a Test match in December 2021 and would be making a comeback to the team. Shakib is likely to be the most important part of Bangladesh’s team in this match.
In the National Super League tournament, Dhananjaya de Silva played a key role for Jaffna with the ball. He picked 14 wickets in 3 matches at an average of 21.78. He also played in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2022 and is likely to use that experience in this series.
Top Picks – Bowlers
Taijul Islam was the leading wicket-taker for Bangladesh during the South Africa series. He picked a total of 9 wickets at an average of 22.44. Islam has been one of the most successful spinners for Bangladesh in the longest format recently.
Lasith Embuldeniya made his Test debut in February 2019 and has picked 70 wickets in just 15 Test matches. He has picked a five-wicket haul in an innings on five occasions and a ten-wicket haul in a match once too. Embuldeniya was the most successful bowler for Sri Lanka on India’s tour as he managed to pick 8 wickets.
Top Picks – Wicketkeeper
Without a doubt, Mushfiqur Rahim is the most important part of Bangladesh’s middle order. He scored a half-century in the first innings of the second Test against South Africa and it would be expected that he delivers similar performance in this game.
BAN vs SL Must Picks for Dream11 Fantasy Cricket:
Suggested Playing XI No.1 for BAN vs SL Dream11 Fantasy Cricket:
Niroshan Dickwella, Liton Das, Tamim Iqbal, Dinesh Chandimal, Dimuth Karunaratne (vc), Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan (c), Dhananjaya de Silva, Taijul Islam, Lasith Embuldeniya, Shoriful Islam
Suggested Playing XI No.2 for BAN vs SL Dream11 Fantasy Cricket:
Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Angelo Matthews, Tamim Iqbal (c), Dimuth Karunaratne, Shakib Al Hasan, Dhananjaya de Silva (vc), Vishwa Fernando, Taijul Islam, Ebadot Hossain, Lasith Embuldeniya
BAN vs SL Risky Captaincy Choices:
Niroshan Dickwella made a return to the Sri Lankan side against India after serving a ban for breaching the Covid protocol in 2021. Dickwella managed to score a half-century in the second innings of the first Test against India.
Shoriful Islam made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in April 2021 and would be up against the same opponent. He didn’t feature in the playing 11 in both the Test matches against South Africa.
Player you should avoid:
Both the teams have enough wicketkeepers and it would be difficult to pick Kusal Mendis in the fantasy team considering his recent form.
