Apple has sway in essentially every industry it touches — smartphones, laptops, and especially earbuds — but one area we don’t see a ton of copycatting is in the smartwatch space. The new Amazfit GTS smartwatch might not be a 1:1 Apple Watch clone, but it sure evokes the feeling of Apple’s smartwatch.
The similarities are pretty striking here: the square-ish display, modular black/neon customizable watch face, pink/rose gold color scheme, and overall form factor are very Apple-esque, right down to the way the renders are displayed. Take a look:
At least it has the specs to back it up. The Amazfit GTS comes with a display covered in 2.5D glass with a pixel density of 341ppi. It’s 9.4mm thin, sports a 5ATM water resistance rating, and boasts 14-day battery life.
There’s an optical heart rate sensor on board, as well as GPS, GLONASS, and 12 different sport modes including running, swimming, skiing, and even mountaineering.
Huami’s other new smartwatch, the Amazfit Stratos 3, has a style of its own.
The Stratos 3 is the beefier of the two models both inside and out. It also has a 5ATM water resistance rating, along with a 1.34-inch transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display — the same type of display found on Garmin’s GPS watches. This means the display will be easy to read outdoors in direct sunlight and help the battery last quite awhile. The company says the Stratos 3’s battery can last two weeks on a single charge.
Huami didn’t announce pricing or availability for these new watches, but we imagine they’ll be pretty affordable. This is, after all, the same company behind the Bip — a $99 smartwatch that got a ton of Android Authority readers interested.
This begs the question, are you buying either of these watches when they come to market?
